Biography

Tim Dodwell holds a personal chair in Computational Mechanics at the University of Exeter, where he leads the Data Centric Engineering group within the Institute for Data Science and AI. He was Project Bluebird's academic Principal Investigator from the project's launch in 2021 until 2023, and remains involved as an advisor. Tim holds a five-year Turing AI Fellowship with the Alan Turing Institute and the Romberg Visiting Professorship in Scientific Computing at Heidelberg. His research sits at the interface between applied mathematics, statistics and high-performance scientific computing, spanning uncertainty quantification, multiscale modelling of complex materials and machine learning for engineering. Alongside academia, he is co-founder and CEO of digiLab, an AI company helping organisations in regulated and safety-critical industries solve complex engineering and data challenges.
