Dr. Michael Plummer

Biography

Michael has over 35 years researching and applying mathematics in both academic and industrial settings. For the past 20 years he has worked for NATS where his main area of expertise has been the development of mathematical algorithms for use in aircraft trajectory prediction and conflict detection. He has provided key technical input to European research projects primarily through NATS participation in the SESAR (Single European Sky ATM Research) programme and is currently developing a constraint management framework to be used in exploring the use of machine learning algorithms within air traffic control on Project Bluebird. Michael has a mathematics PhD and is a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics.
