Biography
Edmond Awad is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics at the University of Exeter, a Research Associate at the University of Oxford, and an Associate Research Scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin. He was previously a Senior Research Fellow at Oxford and a postdoctoral researcher at MIT, where he led the design of Moral Machine, a platform that gathered judgements from over ten million people on the ethical dilemmas faced by driverless cars. His research sits at the intersection of behavioural science, ethics and artificial intelligence, examining how people perceive, trust and assign responsibility to automated decision-making. On Project Bluebird he works on studying how people perceive, trust and attribute responsibility to AI in air traffic control.
