Data Wrangler
Biography
Christos is a Data Wrangler within the Research Data team at the Alan Turing Institute led by Ann-Marie Mallon. The team's primary goal is to deliver research-ready data. Handling raw data and transforming it into a format suitable for analysis constitutes a core step in the life cycle of a research project. The data wrangling team is actively developing tools and methodologies to efficiently perform this task while ensuring high quality data. Engaged in a diverse range of projects, primarily in the health sector, the team is also expanding its reach to other domains where similar skills can be applied. Since joining the institute, Christos is a part of Project Bluebird, a collaboration between NATS, the Alan Turing Institute, and the University of Exeter. The project aims to create an AI system for air traffic control that can work in synergy with air traffic controllers. Christos' focus within the project is on creating and automating data pipelines for the development of the digital twin of the UK airspace. Christos holds a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Bristol and a PhD in Particle Physics from Durham University. His research at Durham University focused on developing theoretical predictions for the properties of heavy hadrons. With experience in data pre-processing methods using Python, he has previously worked on feature extraction and selection for regression and classification tasks.
